About a week ago I whipped up a Peek a boo mini quilt. I found the uber cute cat pattern from Jo Carter on the pages of Love Patchwork and Quilting magazine issue 60. When I saw it , I instantly fell in love. I knew I needed to make it as soon as I can.
My mind was processing it quickly and I realised I deeply needed to make it very personal and with Frank’s portrait. If you’ve been following me for some time on Instagram, you might know that Frank was a cat who kept visiting our previous flat at least once a day and was hanging out in a flower pot outside our window every morning.
We had to move unexpectedly right before last Christmas literally 3 mins walk round the corner. Frank walked me couple of times to our new flat when we were moving stuff. But as cats are very territorial, it is too far away for him plus no more ground floor and no flower pot – living on the 1st floor now. I haven’t seen him since December even though I walk along my old street nearly daily. My old neighbour hasn’t seen him either since we moved out. He just disappeared ? Anyway I hope he’s fine and lives with someone nice.
I made this mini wall hanging as my little tribute to my good memories of having Frank around us. It represents my crazy dream of him appearing in Anna Maria Horner and Alison Glass gift box by my door ? ? I decided to mash up fabrics of two of my favourites designers and I think it came out extremely well, colourful and bright.
I slightly amended the pattern to make Frank’s signature white fur above the right side of his lip
I am crazy in love with this Frank mini and it is already hanging on a wall next to my sewing machine, so Frank keeps me company 🙂
